National Cybersecurity Awareness Month
The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency, along with Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), is recognizing October as National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. We encourage citizens across the state to learn how to secure their information through computers, mobile phones and other devices. This year’s theme is “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.”
This theme encourages individuals and organizations to own their role in protecting their part of cyberspace, stressing personal accountability and the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity.
NCSAM emphasizes “If You Connect It, Protect It.” Throughout October, GEMA/HS will focus on the following themes each week to educate individuals and families on various tips to keep their information secure and free from hackers. The themes each week during Cybersecurity Awareness Month are:
- October 1 and 2: Official NCSAM Kick-Off
- Week 1 October 5-9: If you Connect It, Protect It
- Week 2 October 12-16: Securing Devices at Home and Work
- Week 3 October 19-23: Securing Internet-Connected Devices in Healthcare
- Week 4 October 26-30: The Future of Connected Devices
For 17 years, the National Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a campaign implemented by CISA and NCSA to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity. For more information about National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, click here.
