Training
In a continuous effort to effectively mitigate emergencies, as well as to be better prepared to respond to them, the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency conduct year-round emergency management training. The courses are conducted at the GEMA/HS Training Facility at 2046 Collier Rd., Forsyth, GEMA/HS headquarters in Atlanta, or in local communities by qualified instructors from within, as well as outside, the agency.
The independent study, emergency preparedness, and field program courses are designed for all personnel who are a part of the emergency management team. This includes: emergency management directors and staff; law enforcement; fire and rescue service; emergency medical service; public works; public health; 911 personnel and volunteers, as well as those seeking their Georgia Certification in Emergency Management. Local elected and appointed officials are also urged to actively participate in these worthwhile training courses. Upon successful completion of GEMA/HS courses, participants will receive continuing education hours from POST, EMS and Fire Services.
