GEMA/HS Announces New GECA Executive Director

(ATLANTA) – The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) announces the appointment of Greg Whitaker as the Executive Director for the Georgia Emergency Communications Authority (GECA). He will begin his role on May 16.

 

National Hurricane Preparedness Week is May 1-7

(ATLANTA) – The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS), in partnership with the National Weather Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), is recognizing May 1-7 as National Hurricane Preparedness Week. This is the ideal time for Georgians to learn and recognize the risks hurricanes pose, as well as plan and prepare for what to do before, during and after a storm.

Disaster Assistance Available for Six Georgia Counties

(ATLANTA) – Businesses and residents affected by the severe storms and tornadoes on April 5-6 in Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Evans and Liberty counties can now apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
